The Degenerate Gambler: “Man vs. Beast”
Daniel Maurino is an employee of Tampa Bay Downs and one of the premier handicappers in the Western Hemisphere. Today, he previews Saturday’s matchup of Bengals’ WR Chad Johnson and Restore The Roar at River Downs in Cincinnati. Previously, he has written on The Kentucky Derby and The Preakness Stakes.
Chad Johnson is fast, but it looks like he has found someone or something that can outrun the Ocho Cinco. Restore The Roar will run one furlong (1/8th mile) while Johnson will run half that distance (about 110 yards). Against a human, Johnson would win. A thoroughbred? Please, Chris Henry has a better chance of being voted NFL Man of The Year.
Restore The Roar has finished in the money only once in his last three races, but remember, he’s a freaking horse. He has four legs and can build speed much faster than Ocho Cinco can. The only way this will be competitive is if Johnson can grow some hoofs too.
